Pebsham Ward

Pebsham & St Michaels Ward

Charlie Rustem – 07531 987044

I have lived in Pebsham for 22 years, after moving from South East London when I was 6 years old. I appreciate how lucky I am to live here, especially bringing up my own children in this beautiful part of the country. I have a particular affection for Pebsham and its people. I have spent the last 10 years working in the public and voluntary sector, initially at Bexhill Library and then moving on to Egerton Park Children’s Centre, tutoring local adults of all ages in Literacy, Numeracy, and Computing. I now work for East Sussex Community Voice, which specialises in community engagement across East Sussex and influences the design, planning and delivery of public services, particularly healthcare in the county. Bexhill has a unique history, and I believe that with the right people working together it can become the envy of neighbouring towns. At present, engagement between governance and residents in terms of services and facilities could be better, and the town has not flourished in the way residents expect. Pebsham has an established community centre, in need of some modernisation, where a town council could possibly raise funds to deliver services demanded by its residents. If I were elected as a councillor, I would ensure that all local residents are given the opportunity to share their views and ideas, and above all feel that they are being listened to – It is time to say goodbye to the “same old voices” and for you to have a voice!

Bexhill is my hometown and I have lived here for a life time. I have spent time in other places, but this is where my heart lives. I have never stayed away for long. I am an event organiser, my business – Bentleys Events has been running for 8 years. I organise architectural salvage and vintage fairs. I also run The Great Gatsby Fair at Bexhill on Sea, and the Vintage Swing Festival. I was the first ever lady Vice President of The Bexhill Chamber of Commerce. I am all about community. I opened face book groups – Bexhill Voice, and Bexhill Politics Group. I enjoy interacting with people, I think it is important. Bexhill Parish Council will soon be here, I am standing because I believe I have the right communication skills, and I am someone that does not like injustice. I am the person who opened Bexhill Independents platform and encouraged people to stand up and be counted in this election. I hope great things will come out of the Parish Council, and if you choose to give me your vote I promise to give it my best at all times on your behalf.
